Self introduction: Lawyer based in Nagoya

I am Kaori Nejihashi, a lawyer based in Nagoya, Aichi prefecture. I am licensed in Japan and New York.

I started my career as a lawyer in 2000 at a law firm in Tokyo. The law firm was associated with the Tokyo Office of an U.S. based law firm (O’Melveny & Myers LLP) , and I did a lot of work for foreign corporations doing business in Japan.

In 2005, I went to the U.S. to study at Harvard Law School under Fulbright scholarship. I got an LL.M. and returned to my home city, Nagoya, in 2006.

Since then, I have been practicing corporate and business matters in Nagoya. In 2019, I was appointed as Outside (Independent) Director of ASTI Corporation, a company listed in Tokyo Stock Exchange, and have been serving as an independent director of the company.

I expanded my practice to the international family law field from around 2013, and assist foreigners and Japanese citizens on international divorce, child custody and inheritance matters. I have attended family law mediation in Australia on multiple cases. I also have experience of acting as the mediator in Hague Convention cases, and representing parties in Hague Convention cases.
